Who is Rubi (@dejaru22)?

I’m planning a new series to highlight unique voices on social media—figures who, in their own ways, reflect something essential about our time. This series is aligned with Weltgeist's goal to capture the spirit of the world, and Rubi (@dejaru22) is the first figure I’ve chosen to spotlight.

At first, I followed Rubi on X because he appeared to be an Orthodox Christian; he frequently quoted Orthodox saints and referenced ancient Christian teachings. However, what I found was not what I initially expected—Rubi’s approach draws from a wide range of spiritual, psychological, and even esoteric influences, making him the perfect choice to kick off this series.

A radical path to mental reprogramming

Rubi’s focus on self-mastery is both intense and unconventional. He promotes what you can call “mental reprogramming,” a way of reshaping the mind to break free from self-doubt and create a confidence that operates like a well-tuned machine. Influence yourself before others influence you is what Rubi essentially says, a mindset rooted in discipline and unstoppable drive. Rubi offers tools and techniques that feel almost like modern rituals: hypnosis tracks, conditioning exercises, and affirmations that aim to rewire thinking for mental resilience far beyond typical motivational advice.

Among these tools is Rubi’s Terminator audio, available on Gumroad for £33. Described as “installing software directly into your brain,” the track promises to transform listeners into “a force of unparalleled drive, focus, and determination.” The track claims to instill a conqueror’s mindset, likened to those of Genghis Khan, Alexander the Great, or Miyamoto Musashi. According to him, listeners might experience effects like “laser beam focus,” “unquenchable drive,” “boundless energy,” and “tremendous confidence,” alongside an indifference to others’ opinions and a fearless approach to life’s challenges.

Rubi’s idea of mental reprogramming reminds me a lot of linguistic determinism, the concept that language shapes how we think and perceive the world. In the same way that our language sets limits on our thoughts, Rubi’s Terminator mindset aims to reshape how we think by introducing a specific mental framework. Rubi basically describes the mind as a psychological fortress, encouraging followers to see themselves as resilient and unbreakable. “Imagine what the highest, best, smartest, wisest, most charismatic version of you would do, and step into that,” he recently posted on X.

His reading list

“It is said that every soul is part of an ancient collective, a timeless spirit that transcends the boundaries of time and space,” Rubi writes in another post. This perspective shapes much of his mystic approach, which draws on a broad range of influences. His recommended reading list, for example, includes titles like Reality Transurfing, Prometheus Rising, Outwitting the Devil, The Fire From Within, and Power vs. Force. These are not light, inspirational reads; they challenge core beliefs about reality, consciousness, and perception.

In Reality Transurfing, Vadim Zeland introduces the ideas of "pendulums" and "life lines" as core concepts for understanding how we interact with reality. Pendulums are essentially collective thought structures or patterns of energy that arise when people focus on similar ideas, emotions, or goals. These can be anything from social trends and political movements to personal conflicts and negative thought cycles. Pendulums gain strength the more people feed them with their attention and energy, often leading individuals to act and think in ways that don’t truly align with their authentic desires or intentions. Zeland suggests that to live freely, we should avoid getting "swayed" by pendulums that drain our energy or push us toward negativity.

Life lines refer to the different possible paths or realities we can experience. Each life line represents a version of our life shaped by our thoughts, attitudes, and beliefs. When we align with positive emotions and intentions, we move toward favorable life lines—ones that reflect our dreams and goals. By consciously choosing how we react to situations and shifting our focus away from negative pendulums, we can navigate toward life lines that bring us closer to what we genuinely desire.

Prometheus Rising, by Robert Anton Wilson, looks at how our beliefs and mental habits shape our experience. It shows how we can "reprogram" our minds to see the world in new ways and reach higher levels of awareness. Both books reflect Rubi's idea that reality isn’t set in stone and can be influenced by the way we think and feel.

Jesus, Buddha, Mohammed

What’s special about Rubi is how he freely draws from a vast range of philosophies. He references Jesus, Buddha, Mohammed, and others. On the surface, these sources can seem contradictory, each grounded in its own values. But Rubi doesn’t seem interested in resolving these contradictions; instead, he lets them coexist. This openness to ambiguity immerses Rubi in a realm where myth and mystery are woven together, creating a space that feels mysterious. His tweets are like a gateway into a world where dreams, symbols, and ancient wisdom aren’t merely metaphors but active, guiding forces.

It's hard to say whether he would agree with my takes on his positions, since he is, at least from my perspective, unpredictable. The more esoteric aspects of his teachings add a mystical dimension that's difficult to interpret sometimes, but exactly that makes him so intriguing. Rubi is one of those niche social media personalities who are viewed by many as a master or guru. He’s become a mentor for his followers, guiding them through both the practical and mystical layers of self-mastery. One follower asked him some time ago a question that would sound insane to the average person.

This question reveals the type of people drawn to Rubi—a community open to exploring ideas that many would find perplexing, especially those who hold a strictly materialistic view of the world. For skeptics, talk of divine missions or symbols from dreams might sound like pure fantasy, the stuff of overactive imaginations or mere nonsense. Yet, the fact that they dismiss these experiences so quickly highlights how closed-off some people are to anything beyond the visible, the measurable, or the readily understood. Rubi’s followers, however, embrace a different perspective.

As we start this series, Rubi serves as an unusual starting point—a figure representing a fresh kind of online mysticism. While some might find it ridiculous, for others, it opens the door to a deeper search for meaning.
